The closest ski area from the house is . It is within the Tahoe Donner development and is about 2 miles from the house. It's a small ski area with two lifts and a rope tow, and excellent children program.

• Sugar Bowl - Getting to Sugar Bowl from Truckee is 12 miles by Donner Summit Road or 16 miles via Highway I-80.
• Boreal - Just off of I-80 at Castle Peak Road exit and is only 11 miles from the house.
• Soda Springs - Small ski area at the same exit as Sugar Bowl. They have a snow tubing area which is not available at other larger ski resorts.
• Squaw Valley - Squaw Valley Ski Report is about 14 miles from the house and 28 minutes by car (according to Google Maps).
• Northstar at Tahoe - About 14 miles from the house and 25 minutes by car (according to Google Maps).
• Alpine Meadows - About 16 miles from the house and 33 minutes by car (according to Google Maps).
• Other Ski Areas - Homewood, Granlibakken, Diamond Peak, Mount Rose.

Tahoe Donner has several amenities that require a membership or guest card to access. Your rental includes use of a "transferable guest card" during your stay to access the Trout Creek Recreation Center (for a nominal fee) for their exercise equipment, lap pool, and the sliding hill. The driving range at Trout Creek Recreation Center turns into a sliding hill in the winter. It's a very long and slightly sloped hill for sliding. Sleds are provided.

Last by not least, don't forget that there's snow right outside the house. The backyard is another great place for snow play!
